Interested in a career in mental health, education, marketing, non-profits, or law? Shalom Task Force is excited to announce Purple Fellowship Advisors, a new opportunity for college students to take a leaderships role in our newest high school program, The Purple Fellowship. The Purple Fellowship allows high school juniors and seniors to gain important leadership skills while deepening students’ understanding of domestic abuse in the Jewish community.
Program Description
Specific responsibilities include:
Leading weekly break-out discussion groups with 8-10 high school juniors and seniors during the eight-week fellowship trainings.
Attending two training sessions (via zoom).
Reviewing weekly break-out group sessions materials prior to training.
Attend weekly prep meetings (held directly after weekly training).
Advise 2-4 groups of high school fellows throughout their Go Purple Day planning process.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
Strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Jewish High School landscape
Passion for creating a supportive community
Commitment
6 Hours of Training
3-4 hours weekly time commitment, including the 90-minute training and 30 minutes debrief meeting
10-15 hours of advising meeting between December-March.
Advisors will receive a $500 stipend at the end of the program.

What is the STF Purple Fellowship?
The Purple Fellowship is our newest program for high school juniors and seniors to gain important leadership skills while deepening students’ understanding of domestic abuse in the Jewish community.
Students Participate in a 9-week training, that will be taught by once a week over Zoom by our committed staff and exciting guest lecturers. Training will take place on Wednesday Nights Beginning on October 11th. Topics include: healthy relationships, red flags, boundaries, supporting a friend, stigma, barriers to coming forward, meeting with local resources, event planning, and elevator pitches.
Our goal is that the students involved with the Fellowship will not only gain a true understanding of Shalom Task Force’s mission, but will encourage students to continue to take on leadership roles in Jewish communal work.
What will I be doing as a college student for the fellowship?
Leading zoom breakout rooms for the high school students discussing domestic abuse awareness and information, and questions, and clips related to these topics.
In addition, after the training, you wiill continue advising 2-4 groups of high school students as they plan Go Purple Day. This included regularly chekcing in via text or email, attending meeting with school staff (via zoom), and arranging 1-2 check in meetings with each group of students.
Do I need any prior experience?
No, you do not need to have any prior experience. Just a desire to be a part of the important work Shalom Task Force does and help raise awareness, and to make a difference.
What does the Purple Fellowship Advisors offer college students?
By partaking in the Purple Fellowship program, college students are offered an invaluable experience in areas across multiple fields, such as education, mental health, law, marketing, and Jewish leadership. Letters of recommendation will be available upon finishing the program.
Is this a paid opportunity?
Yes, there is a $5o0 stipend upon completion of the program.
Is there training for this program?
Yes. There will be 6 hours of training on zoom prior to the start of the Fellowship on October 11th.
