Shalom Task Force's (STF) Legal Department provides free legal services to anybody who has experienced domestic abuse by an intimate partner and is financially eligible. The Legal Department has limited resources and cannot represent every person, but we will always provide safety planning and a legal consultation.

The Legal Department's practice areas are matrimonial law (secular and religious divorces), family law, and immigration matters that are related to abuse. Family law cases include orders of protection, custody, visitation, paternity, and child and spousal support. STF Attorneys are expert in Jewish divorces, both secular and religious.

STF attorneys are licensed in New York State and any advice given will be based on New York State Law. Attorneys cannot offer representation outside of New York, though they may be able to provide a limited legal consultation for out of state inquiries.

The Legal Department offers services to anyone regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, or marital or immigration status.
