Director of Community Education

Position Summary: 

The Director of Community Education is responsible for overseeing and developing educational and outreach programs with a focus on youth and young adult programming as part of Shalom Task Force’s Education Department. Director of Community Education report directly to the Executive Director. This position is critical in providing leadership, supervision, and content to educational activities related to STF’s mission. Director of Community Education contributes to an agency culture of collaboration to partner with other team members. This position has the option to work full-time (40 Hours) or Monday-Thursday (32 hours), with flexibility to work nights and weekends as dictated by program needs. 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and implement all aspects of awareness and prevention education programs, with focus on community events and training programs for professionals who work within the Orthodox community, including school staff, law enforcement personnel, medical and mental health professionals, and clergy members. 

  • Supervise and expand SHALOM Workshop. 

  • Recruit, educate, train, and supervise SHALOM Workshop presenters. 

  • Increase STF’s presence in communities across North America. 

  • Create and maintain partnerships with community-based resources, including local organizations, synagogues, and mikvahs. 

  • Develop and regularly update workshop materials.  

Outreach includes but not limited to:

  • Work in conjunction with Director of Youth Education in arranging and speaking at various community forums to increase awareness and knowledge of domestic violence and STF services. 

  • Participate in coalitions, task force meetings, and other collaborative settings. 

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with representatives at shuls, mikvahs, community centers, and other high-visibility community settings to increase awareness of domestic violence. 

  • Regularly publish articles and blogs to increase awareness.

Skill and Education Required:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent (Social work, Psychology, Education or related field)  

  • 2-3 years of post-master’s work experience preferred 

  • Administrative, education, and community outreach experience preferred 

  • Familiar with the Jewish Day School and Bais Yaakov educational systems 

  • Familiarity with Jewish communal work and Jewish culture preferred 

  • Understanding of program vision and expansion/growth through community initiatives 

  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills 

  • Comfort using Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Social Media 

  • Understanding of domestic abuse and commitment to Shalom Task Force’s mission 

  • Strong organizational and project management  in networking efforts, maintaining program records, and evaluating participant feedback 

  • Ability to travel for presentations and conferences 

 

Physical Demands:

Position has the option to be 4 (32 hours) or 5 (40 hours) days a week and requires evenings and weekends, as needed for programming.  

Position will work on a hybrid remote and in-person schedule. 

Candidates will be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Reasonable accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis for exemptions to this requirement in accordance with applicable law. 

The salary range for this position (full-time) is $55,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience.
