Hotline Specialist (Part Time)

Shalom Task Force is the leading non-profit agency committed to combatting domestic violence and fostering healthy and safe relationships in the Jewish community.   Shalom Task Force’s Confidential Hotline serves victims of abuse in the Jewish community. The hotline is primarily staffed by a group of committed volunteer advocates. The Hotline Specialist will work on a team of Hotline Specialists and will report to the Director of Hotline Services.  He/she will contribute to an agency culture of collaboration to partner with other team members. 

Hotline Specialist responsibilities include:  

  • Support Director of Hotline Services in training new hotline and chatline advocates 

  • Provide technical & clinical support to volunteer advocates to include use of the database, and phone & chat platforms 

  • Provide regular coverage for chatline and hotline shifts  

  • Support Director of Hotline services in developing and implementing in-service programs for volunteer advocates 

  • Review and reflect on volunteer advocate calls – provide oversite, feedback, and support 

  • Manage hotline voicemails and ensure that all voicemails are returned promptly by STF staff or volunteers  

  • Support development and maintenance of referral directory 

  • Attend weekly department meetings and staff meetings 

  • Attend relevant trainings and workshops to keep up with best practices of trauma informed, client-centered care. 

  • Assist Director of Hotline Services with reporting and data collection as needed 

  • Potential to supervise MSW interns, completing SIFI certification when eligible 

Skill and Education Required: 

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent (Social work, Psychology, or related field) 

  • Recent graduates encouraged to apply 

  • Familiarity with Jewish communal work and Jewish culture. 

  • Strong computer and technological skills 

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills 

Preferred skills: 

  • Bilingual in Hebrew, Spanish, Yiddish, and/or Russian 

  •  Experience with Salesforce, a plus 

Physical Demands:  

  • Ability to travel to multiple program sites.  

  • Willingness to travel for presentations and conferences in New York and out of state. 

Hours and Salary: This is a Hybrid position and will be 20-28 Hours a week, including 1-2 evenings per week. Salary range is between $28,000-$40,000 commensurate with experience and PT schedule.
